Approximately 70 products are being studied in clinical development, 12 of which are in the final pre-registration phase, Phase 3. It takes about 10-15 years to complete the three phases, including pre-clinical (animal) studies, like toxicology, to prove the molecules are safe for humans.
“The clinical plan for each of those is quite developed and quite good,” Miskel says. “We assess the unmet medical need carefully and design studies within the context of the available standard of care – with value for patients always top of mind.”
Eli Lilly is investing heavily into its pharmacy channel after discovering patients interact with their pharmacist six times more on average than their healthcare provider. This shows educating pharmacists is a necessity based on the meaningful role they play in patients’ lives.
