The winner in the EMEA category, Scribe's partner AlfaPeople has developed a bit of a reputation with its clients as a miracle worker -- they were brought in to help a large multinational company integrate its CRM and SAP systems, after that company had spent a year trying to accomplish the task, despite throwing a dedicated IT team at the problem.
"One of the challenges we faced was how to integrate more than 20 countries into an application that supports critical business processes for 2,000 users," says Rasmus Hartung, vice president of AlfaPeople Europe. "That required a rock-solid solution to address enterprise requirements like multi-accounting and all the nuances that comes with that.
"Our customer was a little bit skeptic in the beginning as they had failed to make it work themselves, so we basically locked our guys in a room for two days with a Scribe installation and access to the servers. At the end of it all, they came out and were able to have the system push data back and forth between SAP and CRM.
"Their solution architects were just stunned. They said, 'If you can fix this within three days, we don't care, we're going to buy the software.' Of course, there was a lot more work to do after that, but Scribe had not just opened the door for us -- it kicked it in."
AlfaPeople is now operating in 11 countries, running nearly 50 installations of Scribe, and their business is split pretty evenly between working with CRM and the other half with AX. They prefer to work with companies that have manufacturing, wholesale/distribution and retail environments, with a high degree of complexity. While they are certainly taking advantage of the increased emphasis on web services, AlfaPeople says that they don't try to steer their customers towards any predetermined cookie-cutter solution.
