Bayer Healthcare has recently agreed to partner with Alibaba Health in order to further promote and distribute its consumer health products and solutions to the Chinese market. China is currently the world’s second largest market, and the move will support the country’s ‘Healthy China 2030’ objectives.
Through the collaboration, Bayer will gain access to essential customer data through utilising Alibaba’s platform and identify key trends and growth areas.
Alibaba has stated that the partnership will enable the company to deliver “personalised online medical consulting” relating to customers’ lifestyle, health and diet, directly through the Alibaba website.”
The news follows on from Alibaba’s recent partnership with GlaxoSmithKline back in August, which has enabled the Chinese market to utilise GSK’s consultation health services.
"We will form an all-round partnership in marketing, promotion and operation within the medical ecosystem of Alibaba," commented He Yong, Vice-President, Head of Marketing and Innovation of Bayer Consumer Health China.
Bayer has recently transformed the internal team within its consumer health division and has appointed two senior figures to further drive the growth of the business. Jennifer Brendel has recently been appointed Vice President of Communications within its Consumer Health Division in the US, in order to raise Bayer’s worldwide presence.
Brendel’s past experience working within Bayer’s Pharmaceutical Product Communications division, and within pharmaceutical giant Pfizer will also strengthen her position in this space.
Additionally, Brenda Raphael has recently been appointed Senior Vice President and General Manager of Therapeutics Business Unit for Bayer’s Consumer Health division to support the development of consumer products and self-care solutions, and support the marketing of these products.
