AstraZeneca strengthens its partnership with Yusen Logistics

Yusen Logistics has been awarded a vital contract extension by global healthcare company AstraZeneca in order to distribute its products on a global scale.

Yusen Logistics’ extended contract with AstraZeneca will consequently see the manufacture of new and upcoming health products, covering road, air and sea logistics. Yusen’s solutions will be managed through its ‘Control Tower,’ which will support all logistics throughout its European operations.

Andy Fitt, Deputy MD Yusen Logistics (UK) has said: “The renewal underlines the continued evolution of our collaboration with AstraZeneca. As a long-standing partner, we are continuing to proactively deliver service and quality enhancements on a local, regional and global basis.”

The company has undergone an aggressive expansion strategy across southeast Asia, with a developing $60 million warehouse in Tuas, Singapore. Set for completion in 2019, the facility will embed data driven and autonomous technologies, alongside the use of smart data and robotics, with 20,000 sq. metre of storage.

The company also aim to upskill over 50% of its workforce in order to be adaptable in the midst of an increasing digital space to cater towards improving customer service, operational efficiency and an effective overall supply chain.

Additionally, the company has secured a new European contract with Japanese manufacturer Mitutoyo to strengthen its position within Europe. All products will be stored at Yusen’s warehouse in Rotterdam.
