UK’s well-known provider of mobile messaging solutions to the public and enterprise sectors namely PageOne Communications announced that Barking and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust has implemented its Responder Smartphone App for BlackBerry, as a part of a major upgrade of its emergency response facilities.

BHRUT serves a population of around 70,000 and is also one of the largest acute hospital trusts in England and operates across two main sites at Queen’s and King George hospitals.

By utilizing PageOne’s Responder App for BlackBerry handsets, the directors and managers do not need to carry two devices and are assigned to SmartGroups based on the emergencies to which they are qualified to respond.

After the message is initiated, the administrative staff at BHRUT can see at a glance whether the message has been delivered, read, how the message recipient has responded and their location.

The Responder Smartphone App for BlackBerry as well as iPhone and Android devices ensures that important messages and alerts that need to be noticed. Mr. Bays also said, “An extremely useful aspect of the Responder is that when you are managing an accident, you can send out a message and plot the location of different staff-this gives us a clear picture of our available resources and enables us to act accordingly.” He also said, “We can contact each member of our SmartGroups through any combination of SMS, email and the Responder application.
