Samsung has launched a health and medical equipment group in its Australian business to drive quality care to patients with innovative diagnostic solutions.

With Jamie Brand as the head of the new business division, the technology giant is enabling healthcare providers to provide more patient-centric care while also delivering high quality treatment with its top-of-the-line medical equipment.

Coinciding with its first global sale in Australia of the RS80A premium ultrasound systems designed for radiology diagnosis, Samsung is “bringing imaging and diagnostic technology innovations into the Australian healthcare sector,” according to Craig Gledhill, Samsung’s vice president of its Enterprise Business Team.

Combining imaging technology with high usability, the RS80A has advanced the way ultrasounds are captured. With the help of a mobile application, video clips can be downloaded to a mobile phone and updated scans can be provided every time a check-up takes place – far more beneficial than the common black-and-white photo.

Gledhill added that the company has identified healthcare as a key vertical globally that needs to be paid attention to, invested in and expanded, and the Australian region is key to that goal.

Involved in technology and health since 1985, Samsung has now seen the time as beneficial to establish a dedicated medical division in Australia.

“Through collaborative technologies that enable facilities to streamline administrative functions while providing seamless, secure access to confidential patient records, physicians can devote more time to patient needs,” said Wayne Spittle, Samsung Medisons’ (a subsidiary of Samsung electronics) executive vice president.

Samsung is “dedicated to simplifying and accelerating patient care through the seamless integration of new technologies in a changing medical environment,” he added.
