Every year, Newsweek releases its list of the world's best hospitals 2024, which it compiles in association with data-gathering specialist, Statista,

The following are the world’s best 10 hospitals. These healthcare organisations, says Newsweek, "share a commitment to achieving excellence regarding patient treatments and results". The US has more hospitals in the list than any other nation.


01: Mayo Clinic

Country: US
Established in 1889 by the Mayo brothers, the Mayo Clinic has evolved into a premier medical institution. It is known worldwide for top-quality care and cutting-edge research, and has campuses in Arizona, Florida, and Minnesota. Its clinical specialties include cardiology, oncology, and neurology, and it conducts pioneering research, particularly in genomics and regenerative medicine. It is also a leading training hospital, attracting medical professionals globally.

02: Cleveland Clinic 

Country: US
The Cleveland Clinic is a leading medical centre, and is famed for its expertise in cardiology, orthopaedics and digestive disorders. Founded in 1921, its research programmes focus on heart disease and neurological disorders. It has over 5 million patient visits annually, and performs an estimated 228,000 surgical procedures, as well as overseeing around 9,500 clinical trials.

03. Toronto General - University Health Network

Toronto General was founded in 1819, and specialises in cardiology, organ transplantation, and critical care. Its research focuses on genomics and regenerative medicine. It is highly rated by the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health. Universitätsspital is a noted training hospital and each year treats over 500,000 patients, performs 60,000 procedures and runs 200 clinical trials
